Guidelines for Preparing Your Quilt Top and Back for Machine Quilting

These Guidelines for preparing your quilt top and back for machine quilting will ensure that your finished quilt will meet both our expectations:

  1.  If client provides backing and batting it must be at least 8 inches wider and longer than the quilt top.

  2. The top must be squared (measure the same or within one inch on both sides and middle as well as top, bottom and vertical middle) if not the quilt might have tucks

  3. Batting must be non-lofted.

  4. The top must lay flat on its own (no puckering or flaring). Piecing problems cannot be corrected by quilting.

  5. Be free of embellishments such as buttons, beads, etc.
